Thailand Initiative

The Thailand partnership is with the New Dawn vineyard in Bangkok Thailand. Over 8 years ago a team of Thai, chinese, Europeans and Canadians came together to plant a church in Bangkok and work about the slum in Khlong Toey. Today they have seen over 200 people receive Jesus and are in the process of renovating a facility in the slum to set up a training center, meeting place and housing. The dream is to have english classes, computer training, resource development, training for evangelism and go out to Indo-China along with housing for teams to come and stay as they reach out to various parts of Thailand and surrounding nations.

The New Dawn Vineyard
Bangkok has recently leased a “3 shop” building and is currently renovating each of its four stories.  Their hope, as outlined, is to build a multi-function facility for the use of the church and the surrounding community. Total project cost of the complete renovation is less than US$50,000.

The Purpose: to develop Bangkok’s New Dawn Vineyard as a connecting hub providing resources and training that advance the Kingdom of God locally and throughout the Indo-China region.

The Objective: by leasing and renovating the facility, New Dawn Vineyard will establish a stable base for evangelism, training and equipping.

The Floors:

First floor - Evangelism and Outreach

With ground floor with walk-in entry from the street this area is designed to create a space where anyone who walks in will feel welcome. The main kitchen used by residents will be here which can also function as the kitchen for a coffee shop and café. Sunday gatherings and larger groups will meet in this area.

Mezzanine (Half Floor) and Second floor – Discipleship

The mezzanine will be renovated to provide for an office, library and classroom space. The second floor construction will create a youth room, two more classrooms and washrooms. Classrooms will be used for children’s ministry on Sundays and home groups during the week. Ministry to the broader community will include ESL and computer training in these same class spaces.

Third and fourth floors – Residential Community

These floors will be able to house two families and 12-15 singles. There will also be a room designated for short-term hospice care. Those who are coming to receive training or needing a resting place will stay here along with those who are primarily involved in long-term service to the local community.

Roof – the roof will also be refurbished to provide usable space for parties, sports and team building activities.

The Budget: the overall budget for the project down to the last gallon of paint is a little more than US$43,000. The figures break down as follows:

General demolition, disposal and repairs

$7,365

First floors renovations

$12,692

The Need: The members of New Dawn Vineyard have been bringing Christ to the people of Bangkok and bringing Him into some of the cities darkest regions for years now. This building and the hope behind it is an expression and extensions of the work they feel called to join in. They are asking for donations to assist them in establishing this building as a center for the work of God’s Kingdom in Thailand and in the surrounding region.

November 2007 - The Bangkok Vineyard had the first Sunday service in their new facility in Khlong Toei.
After eight years, they finally have a multi-purpose facility to call their own.
