POEM - CALLING ME BACK TO YOU
[05.19.2007]

(Psalm 73)

When heartache comes my way

I am pained by what is revealed

My response so ignorant so foolish

How lost and senseless it feels

Yet I still belong to you

Your sovereignty calls to me again

Reminding me of your unearned favour

I am broken again inside

Undeserving, calling me home calling me back to you

When my actions and striving fail me

My trust grows weak inside

What I do summons no response

Earning your love seems the place to hide

Yet I still belong to you

Your sovereignty calls to me again

Reminding me of your unearned favour

I am broken again inside

Undeserving, calling me home calling me back to you

There is no place where I can find rest

No freedom my performance can ensue

Yet your favour meets me in my place of need

Filling my heart, calling me back to you

Yet I still belong to you

Your presence strengthening my heart

Reminding that whom I have on earth is you

I am broken again inside

Undeserving, I still belong to you

POEM - UNSHELTERED MOMENT
[04.29.2007]

The cross came thru

To the anguish of her heart

All hope lost

Leaving all undone

The cross came thru

As the moments of death & life

collided upon her desperate beauty

She so hated

The cross came thru

Jesus spoke her name to his Angels

Majestic they gathered

And stood patiently waiting for her to fall

Into their arms of Promised love and hope

In one unsheltered moment

The cross came thru

As he whispered her name in love

The all consuming swords of death fell.

In his victory – The cross came thru

POEM - THE JESUS TABLE
[04.13.2007]

It is so close yet out of my control
Query of belonging speaks most
What will we make of it many ask

Shared life yet I still reach for my mask

I have been to the table

But not alone

With the many a shared life

I find I belong

I am not alone I settle inside

We are not alone we don’t have to hide

It is His table to which we are invited

At His table our demons end fighting

It is not my gifts that require resolve

For the table I sit at stayed it all

When I forget who I am and flounder in my way

I look to the table for it is there I may

For I belong at the table

There is a place set for me

Shared life is provided

Can inclusion be for me?

Then it subtly escapes my heart

Who can come to this table whispers within

This stranger beside me, my brokenness may see

I must first slay the outcast in me

I fear this table I love to touch

Belonging to those I don’t know how much

I eat at this table carefree and secure
When I do I can give what was given so pure
